(CNN) - Bands of rain from Tropical Storm Christopher are reaching the shores of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida this morning.
Bands reaching the Louisiana coast have associated tropical storm force winds.
A National Ocean Service station on the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River recently reported sustained winds of 75 km / h (47 mph) and a wind gust of nearly 100 km / h (62 mph).
Conditions in these regions will continue to deteriorate throughout the morning, as downtown Cristobal approaches the Louisiana coast.
Christopher is currently 225 km (140 miles) south of the mouth of the Mississippi River with sustained winds of 80 km / h (50 mph) and heading north at 19 km / h (12 mph).
According to the official forecast, the Cristóbal center will make landfall in Louisiana with the force of a tropical storm later today and will continue to advance inland until Monday morning.
