Waakirchen - How should things go with Waakirchner traffic planning? Norbert Kerkel (FWG), the new mayor, wants to talk to the representatives of the State Building Authority in Rosenheim about this next week. The thread has to be taken up again.

In the room is the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 (BVWP), which gives priority to the construction of a simple southern bypass around Waakirchen for an estimated 7.67 million euros. But the previous council had clearly rejected it. After many investigations and debates, the committee decided in December 2019 on the so-called preferred street, which the expert Helmuth Ammerl commissioned had developed as the best option. It is a partly bypassed, partly troughed southern bypass. Around 83.5 million euros would be due for the approximately 2.7-kilometer route, which would run completely underground for almost one kilometer. In addition, relief is provided for Hauserdörfl, which is heavily burdened by traffic.

As far as the wish fixed by decision. It is completely open how the municipality can convince the federal government to assume the costs for this solution. The community placed some hope in an ecological report. It should provide arguments for the construction of the partially tunneled variant. As reported, the local council decided to commission such an opinion. "But we left it at that," explains Kerkel. The relevant offices had already clearly told the municipality in advance that the eco-analysis would not provide the hoped-for arguments. "We have no chance of getting anything out of it," says Kerkel. The money for the report would be put in the sand.

When talking to the representatives of the building authority, Kerkel wants to find out what the next course can look like. Afterwards there should be an appointment with the entire municipal council. After all, there are many new members. Thus, the attitude towards traffic congestion could have changed somewhat. Kerkel personally continues to reject the simple south bypass, as provided by the BVWP. A solution for Hauserdörfl is also essential for him. Bypassing this place is not part of the BVWP. It would first have to be included in the update of the road development plan. This will also have to be discussed with the building authority.

Also in the room is the construction of a local tunnel, for which FW councilor Gisela Hölscher and the citizens' movement “Relief of the B472” collected 3,500 signatures in 2017. The costs for this: at least 120 million euros.
