The municipal elections in Paris are not lost in advance for Agnès Buzyn, said Sunday the general delegate of La République en Marche (LaRem), Stanislas Guerini, contrary to what messages attributed to Marlène Schiappa suggest.

Propelled urgently in February at the top of the LaRem list in Paris after the withdrawal of Benjamin Griveaux, Agnès Buzyn only came in third position in the first ballot in mas, with 17.6% of the votes, far behind the outgoing socialist mayor Anne Hidalgo (29.3%) and candidate Les Républicains Rachida Dati (22.7%).

After a few days of apparent uncertainty, the former Minister of Health confirmed in late May that she remained a candidate for mayor of Paris for the second round, postponed to June 28 due to the epidemic linked to the new coronavirus.

But according to Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State for Gender Equality and candidate on the LaRem list in the 14th arrondissement, " no one thinks Agnes Buzyn will be elected mayor of Paris anymore ", according to this text message to activists of his movement unveiled on Friday by the newspaper Le Point.

" There is no fight that is folded in advance, " on the contrary assured Sunday Stanislas Guerini, in the broadcast Le Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro-LCI. " We will fight step by step, " added LaRem's general delegate.

An Ifop-Fiducial poll for the Journal du Dimanche and Sud Radio indicates, however, that Agnes Buzyn seems far behind in the voting intentions for the second round in Paris with 20% of the votes, against 44% for Anne Hidalgo and 33% for Rachida Dati.

For Stanislas Guerini, this poll goes " against the idea that many carried that there would be a collapse of Agnes Buzyn when she resumed (...) this municipal campaign, this is not the case ".

" We still have work to do ," he admitted, but " we have a collective in this Parisian campaign that is holding out ." (Bertrand Boucey)
