For five years now, the planned conversion of the town hall has been a headache for the local council: the costs rose from 1.7 to 4.7 million euros during the planning phase. Now the start of construction is delayed.

Anything else would be too dangerous, ”emphasized FW parliamentary group spokesman Thomas Henning, referring to the recent extra costs of 1.3 million euros. Mayor Harald Reents (CSU) agreed with him: Even if the architects are now preparing the tenders, everything ultimately depends on the supplementary budget. The local council, according to Reents, will discuss this in its retreat next Saturday.
Heinrich Lemer (FW), however, was “disappointed” by the session template: “1700 individual items are listed here. We are not interested in this. ”All individual measures for office extensions and conversions, air conditioning, electrical installations, accessibility, fire protection and the conversion of the shop unit for post office, social work and Vhs were shown. It would have been much more interesting for him to know which of these measures are actually based on local council resolutions - and which the local government "put in". Reents underlined that all of the list items during the Corona period were commissioned by the Vacation Committee. Only, according to Andreas Niederreiter from the building office, he added personally necessary positions in media technology.
The price increases were essentially based on the fact that at the beginning of the planning work was carried out on the basis of cost estimates, said Niederreiter. The new team of architects has now gone into detail. "When you tackle an existing building, there are often surprises," said the mayor.
CSU councilor Christian Krätschmer pointed out that the town hall had "from the beginning with 1000 defects". Stefan Kronner (SPD) also opposed deleting positions: "In the end, the costs will catch up with us." Meanwhile, architect David Meuer warned against postponing the town hall renovation and renovation: "The project has already seen a few breaks . Further delays don't make it cheaper. "
However, the planned start of construction in October this year will not be held due to the late tender, which was also due to the corona. The building committee approved the tender documents with one vote against (Heinrich Lemer). However, they may only be dispatched once the supplementary budget has been approved.
