Erding had had to close for three months due to corona, now it is clear: The Erdinger Cineplex cinema on Dorfener Straße will reopen on Thursday, June 18. With a space and hygiene concept, fewer visitors in the ten halls, but an attractive film program, as managing director Veronika Fläxl announces.

A maximum of 50 visitors per cinema hall

Throughout Bavaria, the opening is allowed from Monday, June 15th. Erdinger Kino decided to start the game week on June 18. Until then there is still a lot to do. “Movies are booked and measures are taken to comply with distance and hygiene rules. And the team is trained to ensure a safe visit to the cinema, ”explains Karin Glück for the Cineplex Erding.

The program will initially consist of the films that were about to start in mid-March before the lockdown came. Films such as "The Kangaroo Chronicles", "The Spy Next Door", Disney's "Onward - Not Half a Thing" or the literary adaptation "Narcissus and Goldmund" can be found in the game plan. There is also a reunion with classics in the popular series "Ladies First" and "Real Guys", including "Harry and Sally", "Breakfast at Tiffany's" or "Leon the Professional" and "Mad Max".

Tickets can only be booked online

"The security for guests and employees is the focus of the reopening, Fläxl emphasizes. The booking system of the Cineplex was programmed in such a way that places and rows are blocked, so that the required minimum distance between the booking groups is ensured. The maximum number of 50 visitors per hall is also taken into account when selling the tickets.

Tickets can only be booked online. The contact details of the person making the booking are queried so that the traceability of the contacts is guaranteed by the health authority if a corona case occurs. "This booking represents the least hurdle for the guests of the Cineplex Erding, because online booking was already the most popular and uncomplicated way of buying tickets before the Corona crisis," says Fläxl.

Distance rules and mask requirement

Wearing the mouth-nose protection and complying with the rules of distance in the cinema foyer will be unusual, but essential - as will the separate and regulated entry and exit at the halls. The indoor playground will remain closed for the time being. In the past few days, plexiglass protective dividers have been installed at the cash registers and additional disinfection dispenser stations, says Glück.

And: "As soon as the official hygiene regulation of the ministry is available, the hygiene concept of the Erdinger cinema will be coordinated with the local health department and, if necessary, further measures will be taken to ensure that nothing stands in the way of reopening on June 18."

Fläxl describes the situation of the cinema in the Corona crisis as serious but hopeful. The managing director said that the financial difficulties resulting from the loss of revenue during the closure phase could be alleviated by claiming short-time work benefits and applying for and receiving emergency aid.

Utilization only at 25 to 30 percent

Fläxl emphasizes that the economic problems will not be eliminated with the reopening, since the cinema rules can only be used to 25 to 30 percent of the time due to the spacing rules. The supply of current blockbusters with a high public profile through the film distribution is only slowly starting up again.

Many thanks to Fläxl for the audience at the Cineplex Erding. Even in the crisis, it expressed its connection with the cinema in social networks and through contact with the service center. Erdinger fans have supported their cinema in the past few weeks with voucher purchases, participation in the online cinema advertising campaign "HilfDeinemKino" and use of the streaming service "Cineplex Home".

From Monday, June 15th, the schedule for the first game week in Erding is online at cineplex.de/erding. There you can also book tickets online.
