The commission of inquiry to the National Assembly on the management of the coronavirus epidemic will conduct its first hearings on Tuesday, June 16, starting with that of the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon, we learned on Tuesday parliamentary sources.

The next day, it will be Geneviève Chêne, director general of the public health agency France (SPF), and François Bourdillon, former director general of SPF, to be auditioned, before Jean-François Delfraissy arrives, President of the Scientific Council, scheduled for Thursday June 18.

The controversial Marseille professor Didier Raoult must be heard the following week, June 24, followed on June 30, after the second round of municipal elections, by the former Minister of Health and LREM candidate for mayor of Paris Agnès Buzyn. Other former ministers of health, Marisol Touraine, Roselyne Bachelot and Xavier Bertrand must also be heard immediately.

The National Assembly officially installed last Wednesday the commission of inquiry on the management of the coronavirus epidemic, thanks to which the opposition hopes to dissect the French "failings" . This commission will have for six months powers of investigation extended compared to the fact-finding mission which had been going on since the beginning of April and which was directed by the President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand (LREM).

This time, the presidency is entrusted to the president of the Social Affairs commission Brigitte Bourguignon (LREM). And the role of rapporteur belongs to an elected representative of the opposition, the deputy LR Eric Ciotti, who had criticized the government for "not having told the truth" on the shortage of protective masks. Designated vice-president, the president of the deputies LR Damien Abad wishes the beginning of the works in "mid-June" . Or a "very tight" schedule for hearing ministers, former ministers or senior officials, with a break during the month of August.

The Senate has also planned its commission of inquiry, which will be set up at the end of the month.
