Two Keanu Reeves movies to be released the same day 0:43

(CNN) - Keanu Reeves has already shown an excellent preview of the new "Matrix".

The actor will return as Neo in "Matrix 4", which follows "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" from 2003.

Reeves decided to continue the franchise because "Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me," reports Empire .

"That is the only reason to do it. Working with him again is just amazing, ”said Reeves.

"It was really special, and I think the story has some significant things to say, and that we can draw on."

Lana and Lilly Wachowski created the original 1999 film, which is now considered iconic in the science fiction genre.

Reeves and his co-star Carrie-Anne Moss discussed the sequel to this movie with Empire for its Heroes edition, which goes on sale June 11.

Moss, who plays the Trinity character in the franchise, said she was as shocked as viewers are for another sequel.

"I never thought it would happen," he said. "It was never on my radar at all."

The star said she couldn't resist the opportunity.

"When they brought it to me the way they brought it to me, with incredible depth and all the integrity and art you can imagine, I thought, 'This is a gift,'" Moss said. "It was very exciting".
