Fu Xicong said that the system does not require manual operation, the driver can focus on the road conditions, and in order to protect personal privacy, the screen will only display color images of thermal information, not the appearance of passengers.

The system has been tested on the HKU campus since the beginning of May, with a minimum error rate of 0.31-0.57°C, which is similar to the accuracy of other expensive instruments on the market, but the new system costs only about HK$3,000 per set, which is cheaper than similar systems . The team plans to further develop a system suitable for specific scenarios in order to control the distance effect, the condition of the subject and environmental factors, and make it easier to adjust, and hope that the system can be used in public buses and minibuses in the near future.
