The African Union Peace and Security Council reaffirmed its rejection of all forms of external interference in matters of peace and security in Libya and the African continent alike.

A statement issued by the council at the end of its session held under the chairmanship of Algeria today, according to the Algerian News Agency, stated that “the participants expressed their concern about the continuing crisis in Libya, which undermines efforts to combat the Corona virus and also exacerbates the already unstable social and economic situation in the country as well as The plight of migrants and asylum-seekers "again aggravates the strong condemnation of all forms of external intervention in peace and security affairs in Africa, undermining national sovereignty and peace efforts.

In this context, the statement stressed the need to coordinate peace and security efforts on the African continent to ensure an end to the fighting in it, stressing the Council's determination to use all necessary means to rid Africa of the scourge of terrorism and armed groups and their support networks.

In his statement, the African Council called for an urgent ban on all sources of weapons, financing and their links to organized crime, drug trafficking and kidnapping for ransom, stressing the need to find sustainable solutions to lasting peace and stability on the continent.
