Grigor Dimitrov, World No. 19, announced Sunday that he has contracted the new coronavirus, a week after taking part in the Adria Tour organized by Novak Djokovic in Belgrade, where he rubbed shoulders with several high-ranking tennis players including the world number one Serbian. "I want to tell my fans and friends that I tested positive for Covid-19 when I returned to Monaco," wrote the Bulgarian on his Instagram account . “I want to make sure that everyone who has been in contact with me for the past few days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions. I am sorry if I caused harm. I went home and I'm recovering, ”says Dimitrov.
Sunday, June 14, Dimitrov participated in Belgrade in the first stage of the Adria Tour, an exhibition tournament organized by Djokovic, in front of full stands. In particular, in addition to Dimitrov and the world N.1, Dominic Thiem (N.3), Alexander Zverev (N.17) and the former world Serb N.1 Jelena Jankovic were present. Djokovic had responded to criticisms of the lack of distancing observed by highlighting the "rather decent" record of the Balkan countries in their fight against the coronavirus. Few spectators wore a mask and social distances were hardly respected, especially between the players.
