An 18-year-old boy was shot to death after a chase in La Matanza and two policemen were apprehended for the murder. The victim was identified as Lucas Nahuel Verón, 18 years old.
The event was recorded around 1.30 in the morning on Friday when Verón returned from celebrating his birthday on a motorcycle with a friend.
The investigation began when the young man was transferred by his relatives to the Simply Evita hospital in González Catán due to a firearm injury. Verón was treated by doctors but died as a result of the injuries suffered, after which personnel from the police station in the area began to investigate under the instructions of prosecutor Juan Pablo Tahtagian.
Initially, the investigators determined that Verón was returning with a 17-year-old friend on a motorcycle and for reasons that are not yet known, they began to be chased by a mobile from the Patrol Command in which a couple of policemen went.
According to sources, the patrol car hit the motorcycle on which the young people were riding from behind , who fell to the ground and started running towards the El Talita neighborhood.
The officer who was driving got out of the vehicle and made between two and three shots with his regulation weapon, one of which hit Verón.
According to the spokesmen, the young man continued to run but after about 20 meters he fell to the ground seriously injured, so his friend went to notify the family of the victim who lives a block and a half away.
Meanwhile, instead of staying to preserve the area, the policemen left the area and did not notify their superiors of the situation. However, the prosecutor Tahtagian ordered the survey of the cameras of the shops and identified the mobile involved.
The judicial official ordered the apprehension of the couple of policemen, who will be investigated this Saturday, and the corresponding autopsy to reliably determine where the impact went.
In addition, Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Security of the province of Buenos Aires disaffected the policemen and withdrew the uniform, badge and weapons use permit (which were already at the disposal of the Justice).
Investigators were seeking to determine why the persecution began and the reasons why police personnel did not report the incident.
