Young rugby player Nicolas Gigot has died

The young player from Bourg-en-Bresse, amputated in both legs after suffering from hyperthermia and dazzling hepatitis, had received numerous messages of support from the world of rugby. The pillar, which has been struggling for a month, succumbed on Saturday.

Taken of discomfort last June 16 when resuming physical activity with his club, the 19-year-old player, victim of hyperthermia and dazzling hepatitis, had to be plunged into an artificial coma. An emergency liver transplant on June 18, Nicolas Gigot's state of health deteriorated two weeks later. Doctors were forced to amputate his right leg, then his left leg, which necrotized at the level of the thigh. Several times out of a coma, his vital prognosis remained always engaged. On July 14, victim of a hemorrhagic shock, he had to have hip surgery.

The fight lasted more than a month. But, this Saturday, the Bressan club formalized the terrible news. Nicolas Gigot died on the night of Friday to Saturday after 32 days of suffering. "All the components of the USBPA Rugby, association and professional section, offer their sincere condolences to the family of Nicolas Gigot, Espoir des Violets player, who died during the night of Friday July 17 to Saturday July 18," said the club's press release. Nicolas will have marked the club by his communicative good humor, his abnegation on the ground and his will to progress. His recent fight has been in his image, full of courage and envy.
