The biggest advantage of the 8200 is manpower. It receives the data of all 18-year-old recruits, selects the best ones, trains them and gives them professional experience. In other words: it is the best school for cyber professions of various kinds.

This is what puts the 8200 at the forefront of global technology, and in quite a few areas - at the top. Its manpower is not only the best there is - it is also the most skilled there is. A 22-year-old Israeli from 8200 is not necessarily more talented than his British, American or Russian counterpart, a computer science graduate, but he is much more experienced, and in many cases - has been involved in the development of groundbreaking technologies and operations beyond enemy lines and imagination.

This is exactly what makes the 8200 people so attractive to civil society. Everyone who serves in the unit has already passed the job-training-training filter at a world-renowned school, and you just have to pick it up. In a world where an average major at 8200 - with 9-10 years of professional experience - earns an average of NIS 6,600 a month, civilian companies offer him five and six times, and in some positions even ten times more.

8200 puts a lot of effort into trying to keep the best in it. It offers academic studies and becoming an officer, but its two main advantages are working in a quality and groundbreaking environment and the knowledge that its actions directly serve the security of the State of Israel. For many it is enough, but there are those for whom the big money of civil society - or the desire to set up a successful start-up and get rich independently - entices them to leave.

8200 live in peace with those who have decided to leave on their own initiative, whether because they have exhausted the service or because the civil world enchants them. She lives in less good peace with those whose lips leave. Anyone who has lived in the field knows that the references of some of the companies to officers and soldiers in the service are often particularly blatant. These are unique centers of knowledge ("diamonds") whose issuance directly harms state security. These companies want to draw on their unique knowledge and experience to make money; The fact that the State of Israel loses out is of less interest to them.

These companies, it will be emphasized, do not break the law. Those who operate from Israel are also subject to the procedures of the AFI (the Ministry of Defense's Export Control Division), and as far as is known, they are also strict about them. Which could harm the professional-technological superiority of the 8200, and the possible leakage of technologies from the unit, which could harm it professionally-operationally.

It will take 8200 more than letters and procedures to change the picture. When the future transfer of the Armed Forces to the Negev is also on the agenda - the core of the debate around it deals with exactly the same "diamonds" - the battle with civilian companies is only expected to intensify. Governments and public organizations, but in the long run the future is there.

Meanwhile, in 8200, attempts are being made to close the loopholes and draw red lines: not for the proactive lure of the unit's servants, nor for the theft of technologies for the purposes of enrichment. The members of the unit can be trusted to adhere to the rules and ethics in most cases; For some civil society - less.
