Republican Congress formally nominates Trump as a candidate

Now it's official: Joe Biden of the Democrats and Donald Trump of the Republicans will face each other in the US presidential election in November. The incumbent was chosen as a candidate at the party congress.

Two and a half months before the US election, the Republicans formally nominated US President Donald Trump as their candidate. Trump got the necessary majority of the delegate votes at the party conference in Charlotte (North Carolina) on Monday, as expected. The Republican will vote against his Democratic challenger Joe Biden on November 3rd.
