The Law of Return is the most essential basis that expresses the Jewish identity of the state - the gates of the State of Israel are open to every Jew.

This is also the way the Torah is written: The covenant of the nation and the land of our father Abraham is the first covenant. And even in our generation, the late Rabbi Zvi Yehuda would emphasize that "who chose us from all the peoples," and from this "gave us his teachings."

Because it is a state law, it requires a definition of "Jew," and unfortunately for many, the definition of the state does not overlap with the halakhic definition. There are also humanitarian aspects to this, and the law can not tear families apart, invite them to a welcoming conversion process in the country, and maintain the deep connection with our brothers in Diaspora Jewry.

However, we went too far. The great success of the state, by the grace of heaven, led to the "grandson clause" being used to obtain Israeli citizenship by those who do not want to be part of the Israeli nation in Israel at all.

This loophole must be closed. This is possible without harming not those who came here by virtue of him, and are part of the citizens of the State of Israel, and not the human parties. And by doing so, continue to be the state of the Jewish people. The only one in the world that continues the great journey that our ancestor Abraham began.
