The prosecution filed today (Wednesday) an indictment against 11 young men and boys for involvement in the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl in a hotel in Eilat.

The Southern District Attorney's Office attributes to the defendants - three young men and eight boys - various charges with some of the defendants charged with rape, others with aiding and abetting rape and some with non-prevention of crime.

Sources involved in the investigation said that unlike the other defendants in the case, no indictment was filed against a manager at the Red Sea Hotel in Eilat, who was suspected of failing to prevent a crime and disrupting investigation proceedings.

In the coming days, a decision is expected to be made on whether an indictment will be filed against her at all.

Specifications revealed from the rape investigation indicate that the main defendant in the rape impersonated her medic, then led her to his room.

The investigation reveals that the girl came to the hotel to visit a group of friends she knew.

At one point the main defendant, a 27-year-old Hadera resident she did not know, tried to start with her in the pool, but she told him he was too old for her.

A few hours later, when she felt unwell after drinking alcohol, the same young man allegedly offered her help, claiming he was a medic, and led her to room number 216 - where the alleged rape took place.

In the security footage obtained by the police, at least 16 boys and young men can be seen walking towards the room, inviting each other to it.

The girl herself understood what had happened the next day, when she received messages from some of the defendants and from them she understood what was happening in the room.

Following this she went to complain.

Police confirmed that the girl's testimony "was found to be reliable and evidentiary reinforcements were found for her."

Police said indictments are expected in the future against other people involved in the affair.

The commander of the southern district, Superintendent Yoram Sofer, emphasized the seriousness of the actions of those who did not prevent the act.

"It is our civic and moral duty not to stand aside and report criminal acts, let alone assist the victim of the offense," Sofer said.

Sources involved in the investigation said today that unlike the other defendants in the case, no indictment will be filed tomorrow against a manager at the Red Sea Hotel in Eilat, who was suspected of not preventing crime and disrupting investigation proceedings.

In the coming days, a decision is expected to be made on whether an indictment will be filed against her at all.

The principal was arrested by the police at the beginning of the investigation, but was released by the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court.

She was suspected of disrupting investigative proceedings and failing to prevent a crime, and allegedly saw the crowd in the hallway, near the scene of the incident, and did nothing.

On the other hand, her defense attorney, Adv. Shani Rofa, said that the principal was "very hurt by the incident and the minor's condition."
