A 19-year-old man was seriously injured today (Friday) by a heat stroke, after staying in the area of a fertile reserve in the northern Negev.
The young man was brought to the nearby parking lot, from where he was evacuated by MDA staff to Soroka Hospital. Upon his arrival, doctors began trying to stabilize his condition.
Police suspect the young man's condition was caused after drinking alcohol with friends at a nature party, despite severe weather conditions. Eight people were detained for questioning and began searches in the area from which the young man was evacuated.
"When we arrived at the parking lot, we were taken to a private vehicle," said Josh Weinstein, an MDA paramedic.
"The young man was lying in the back seat unconscious and very hot to the touch. We immediately began life-saving medical treatment that included cooling and performed advanced resuscitation operations that included fluids, respiration, massages and medication and evacuated him in critical condition while continuing CPR to hospital."

At the same time, a 50-year-old man was seriously injured by a heat stroke on Ehi Eilat Street in Kiryat Shmona. MDA staff provided him with medical treatment on the spot and evacuated him to Ziv Hospital in Safed while he was anesthetized and respirated.
MDA paramedic Yuval Levy said that "when we arrived at Citizens Street we were told that the man had been lying on the sidewalk for a long time and they called MDA because he did not respond to them. We performed initial medical tests in the field, he was very hot to the touch "We provided him with life-saving medical treatment that included cooling and providing fluids and we evacuated him to the hospital while he was anesthetized and respirated and his condition was difficult and unstable."
