US President Donald Trump expects the election to end in November in the country's Supreme Court.

That is also the reason why it is so important that the panel is again occupied by nine judges, he said.

In the corona crisis, the US President regularly described postal votes as susceptible to election fraud, without providing any evidence.

This "fraud, which the Democrats are pulling off," Trump said at an event in the White House, will be heard before the Supreme Court.

A possible draw by the judges is "not a good starting position".

The question of a quick replacement after the death of the previous judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg a few days ago led to a dispute.

Trump wants to fill the post as soon as possible, while the Democrats and even parts of the Republicans are demanding that it wait until after the presidential election in early November.

Trump wants conservative orientation

With the appointment, Trump could cement the conservative orientation of the nine-person body.

After Bader Ginsburg's death, eight judges remained, five of whom are considered conservative.

Members are appointed for life.

Trump has already been able to fill two new posts during his tenure to date.

Trump had announced that he wanted to appoint a woman.

Critics accuse him of wanting to use this appointment for his election campaign.

The announcement could therefore aim to improve Trump's reputation among moderate women.

With this part of the electorate, Trump has had problems in polls for months.

To do this, Trump would have to hold the election before the presidential election on November 3rd.

Trump has five women on a shortlist of female candidates, he told journalists in the White House.

Trump is expected to announce his candidate on Saturday.
