A woman was killed on Wednesday October 7 by firearm in Cognac (Charente) and her husband arrested in the wake, AFP learned from a source close to the investigation.
The woman was killed in the matrimonial home, in an apartment in a district of the city, according to the same source who did not give more details on the circumstances of the tragedy.
They are a couple in their forties.

When questioned, the Angoulême prosecutor's office refused to comment, like the police.
The Limoges judicial police and the Cognac police are jointly involved in the investigation.
This case brings to at least 57 the number of suspected feminicides since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP count. In 2019, 146 women were killed by their spouse or ex-partner, 25 more than the previous year, according to the latest official figures.
