The Russian Federal Security Service announced today that it thwarted a plot to carry out a terrorist attack in Stavropol, southern Russia.
"A unit of Federal Security arrested a 23-year-old man who was planning to launch a terrorist attack against representatives of the judiciary in the Russian city of Stavropol," TASS quoted sources in the agency’s media office as saying.
The service pointed out that it is expected that the terrorist will testify in this criminal case as soon as possible.
During the past few months, Russian security forces foiled terrorist attacks in the republics of Chuvashia and Tatarstan in central Russia and the city of Khabarovsk, in the far east of the country, in addition to uncovering caches containing explosives.
