On August 28, in a false police operation, the march of a truck that came from Jujuy along National Route 9, at the height of the Tucuman town of Villa Mariano Moreno, was stopped.
After stealing the US
$ 230,000
he was carrying and leaving the driver handcuffed, they escaped.
Four policemen, a retired officer and the driver are in prison.
The 51-year-old truck driver, from the Emilio Luque company, had been detained after entering into contradictions during his statement regarding the disappearance of the loot that today would amount to 19 million pesos at the official exchange rate - $
83-
or
35,650,000 pesos
to value of the blue - $ 155-.
A day later, on August 29, they arrested the first policeman involved in the robbery.
They also kidnapped a truck, a car, handcuffs and a bulletproof vest that were brought to the prosecutor to advance the case.
It would take 37 days for the rest of the suspects to be arrested:
all policemen
.
Official sources reported that the arrests occurred during a series of raids ordered in the early hours of this Thursday by criminal judge Raúl Cardozo in the towns of Banda del Río Salí, Los Ralos and Amaicha del Valle.
The Director General of Investigations, Inspector Commissioner Jorge Dib, in charge of the operations, indicated that in order to reach the arrest of the four policemen,
the declaration of other
active
officers was
key
.
According to Dib, those policemen who gave key testimony in the case "detected
suspicious attitudes
of their peers and requested the intervention of the Public Prosecutor's Office to initiate an investigation."
It was after these judicial measures that the arrest of the
four policemen
was achieved
, whose identities were not revealed, but they are three active police officers and a fourth officer who is retired.
During the millionaire robbery on National Route 9 of August 28, five armed criminals acted, two of whom
wore
police
vests
.
The suspects simulated a vehicle control to stop the march of the white Mercedes Benz truck that came from Perico, in Jujuy.
Thus they managed to keep the loot.
The driver was detained because he made a call in the middle of the alleged vehicle control in which the robbery occurred and, therefore, his
complicity
is being investigated
, according to Contexto Tucumán.
The case was investigated by Adriana Reinoso Cuello's Office of the Prosecutor for Criminal Investigation of Robbery and Family Violence and Gender of the Conclusional Regime, and it is
suspected that it was not the first hit
of the gang.
