The autumn semesters have been running at adult education centers for a few weeks now.
According to Vhs director Beate Ruda, all planned courses take place in Geretsried.

- And that's the keyword: Because of the hygiene and distance regulations in force due to the corona pandemic, there are also restrictions at the Vhs: For example, the number of participants is limited to ensure that the minimum distances are observed.
The permitted number of course participants varies depending on the course location, room size and course type.
"In addition, the Vhs has supplemented and adapted the hygiene rules and measures for certain event locations and their special features."
According to Ruda, regular customers have booked language and health courses as usual.
Some courses that were not continued after Whitsun had been eagerly awaited and some of them were so well attended "that we had to share them and now offer them every 14 days or need an additional lecturer".
The Vhs leader has seen an “amazing influx” of beginner courses for Italian, Czech and German.
There are also many new participants in the Greek courses.

All cooking and both baking courses are fully booked.
"Here we could hire none other than Sebastian Brimmers from the five-star Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich." Ruda has noticed a small decline in martial arts (contact sports), "although these courses have never really been overcrowded".
There are currently no online offers.
"All adult education centers have just made the experience that people prefer face-to-face courses," reports the Geretsriederin.
The social aspect plays an important role in Vhs courses - especially in times of contact restrictions.
Of course, the corona situation also has a financial impact on the Vhs.
"You could say that we offer two semesters for the price of one," says the facility manager.
Over the year, revenues will decrease by around half.
"We have a lot of corona-related credits that are now taken into account." At the same time, the expenses would increase due to additional room costs and fees for shared courses.
But Ruda is in a positive mood: “All in all, the Vhs Geretsried is well positioned.” Despite the restrictions caused by the current circumstances, one can offer a wide range of courses and individual events to all interested parties.
