Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship, denounces a sectarian phenomenon "
on the rise
" due to the health crisis in the sectors of personal development, well-being or sport.
"
The general, health, economic and social fragility of the moment offers a favorable ground
," said the minister in an interview with the Parisian website on Saturday.

Under the guise of benevolent activities, the end is financial gain, but also the hold on people,
” she explains.
Schiappa recalls that within the framework of the executive bill being prepared to fight against "separatism", the government intends "to
use the same methods of action against sectarian groups as against radical Islamism, with targeted controls
".

She specifies that "
approximately 500 sectarian deviance groups
" have been identified in France and that they "
affect 50,000 adults and 90,000 minors
".
She announces that "
the French government wants to ban
" conversion therapy, these practices which claim to transform sexual orientation: "
Members of the majority have informed us of their wish to propose it by amendment, via the law on which we let's work: we will support them with Gerald Darmanin
”, the Minister of the Interior, she assures.
Marlène Schiappa still wants to "
better understand
" the "
operation
" and "
establishment
" of the
"Church of Philadelphia
": this entity, which would have "
created the mother of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès
", has long been in the crosshairs of the Interministerial Mission for Vigilance and the Fight against Sectarian Abuses (Miviludes, now attached to the Ministry of the Interior).
It is also in the sights of justice: last January, an investigation against X for "
abuse of weakness
" was opened by the parquet floor of Versailles.

Marlène Schiappa entrusted a joint mission "
to the directors general of the national police and the national gendarmerie as well as to Miviludes
", to "
evaluate (its) practices
".
Finally, the minister specifies that Miviludes, previously directly attached to the Prime Minister, will be strengthened: headed by a magistrate, “
she will no longer simply do monitoring or analysis (...) it will be more linked to the forces of internal security
”.

", she adds, stressing that the former president of Miviludes and former elected Georges Fenech will be part of it.
