The ceasefire signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Moscow on Saturday brought the Nagorno-Karabakh region to the battlefield hoping to end the carnage, a hope that has sunk in the past day with reports from both sides of stubborn fighting.

In the northern part of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, fierce fighting is taking place near the town of Karravachbar after the Armenian army launched a counterattack on the Azeri forces that managed to occupy a large strip of territory near the border.

According to Armenians, their forces were able to reconquer the village of Klish that fell to the Azeris last week.

In the southern part of the disputed region, stubborn fighting is taking place between the advancing Azeri army and the Armenian forces around the town of Drot, while according to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, the progress of the Azeri army towards the town has been halted for the time being.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of the Armenian separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh has published the names of another 50 dead, bringing the official death toll of Armenians in the region to 480.

Along with the battles on both sides of the front, the number of civilians killed also continues to rise.

The number of people killed in the apartment tower damaged by an Armenian missile attack in the city of Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan, rose tonight to ten, the largest number of civilians killed in one attack during the entire war.

"This is a Scud ballistic missile fired at a densely populated population," said Wisdom Hajib, an adviser to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev.

Hajib added that 35 civilians were injured in the incident, including ten children of primary school age.

Explosions and alarms were also heard today in the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Stepankart, but no casualties or damage are known at this time.

The city suffered heavy shelling by the Azeri army and many civilians, including foreign journalists, were killed and wounded in the shelling.
