The family of teachers at the Pfaffenwinkel music school in Schongau has grown again this year.

With cello teacher Gertrud Feller and piano teacher Manuel Draxler, two thoroughbred musicians are now teaching in Schongau.

Schongau

- Anyone who thinks that the piano and cello will only expand the range in the classical area is far from it.

Both are “universal instruments”, as the music school director Marcus Graf emphasizes.

“I can play melodies with my cello, but I can also add background music to the bass,” says Gertrud Feller, describing the enormous range of her instrument.

The 57-year-old Schongauerin, who has "only" given private lessons so far, is enthusiastic about her new role: "I now have a lot more opportunities to develop myself and I was able to fulfill my long-cherished wish for a cello ensemble."

And it shows how great the musical range of the cello is: from classical to jazz and folk, there are virtually no limits to the variety.

This passionate spark immediately spreads to her students, whom she teaches from the age of six.

“But there is also no upper age limit,” emphasizes the likeable teacher.

This also applies to learning to play the piano.

“The piano is also a great entry-level instrument because a note comes out immediately.

And if you master it, a piano can be an entire orchestra, ”says Manuel Draxler, explaining the advantages of his instrument with shining eyes.

And genre-wise there are no limits to the piano anyway.

The 28-year-old, who currently lives in a small village in the Black Forest, was brought to Schongau by love.

His girlfriend is also a teacher at the Pfaffenwinkel music school and infected him with her enthusiasm.

“I really like it here,” says Draxler.

He is currently present one day a week at the music school and in the all-day class at the Staufer elementary school in Schongau.

“Something really beautiful builds up there,” he says of the not always easy work there.

"But now I have the feeling that the children are looking forward to my lessons, and that is really fun," says the young teacher, full of energy.

Both teachers still have the capacity to pass on their enthusiasm to music-loving children or adults.

A trial lesson is possible at any time.

Anyone interested can register in the secretariat of the Pfaffenwinkel music school on 08861/8173.
