Horacio Serpa Uribe, a former Colombian presidential candidate and former senator, passed away this Saturday, his son and also senator Horacio José Serpa confirmed through his Twitter account.
«With immense pain I inform you that my father Horacio Serpa Uribe has passed away today.
With my family we will always carry him in our hearts and we will remember his teachings, ”he wrote.

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, reacted to the death of the also former governor of Santander and former ambassador of Colombia to the Organization of American States (OAS), during a work event in Santander in which he asked for a minute of silence for his death.
"Today I received the news of his death with great pain, I visited him a few months ago at his home and we had a great conversation," Duque said this Saturday.

The Liberal Party of Colombia regretted the death of the Colombian politician with a message through Twitter.
"Former President Cesar Gaviria Trujillo and his family together with councilors, senators, councilors, governors, mayors, deputies, representatives and the liberal people regret his departure," he published in his account.

The Attorney General of the Nation, Fernando Carrillo, also lamented the death of Serpa Uribe.
"Horacio Serpa, former president of the 1991 Constituent Assembly and one of the great architects of the social rule of law that has consolidated the spirit of our Constitution, has left," Carrillo wrote on his Twitter account.
