Hashim Thaçi, who resigned from the presidency of Kosovo on Thursday to face his indictment by the Hague Special Court on war crimes during the conflict against Serbian forces, has been taken into custody, the court said.

The former political leader of the Kosovar independence rebellion (UCK) and two other suspects "
have been transferred to the detention center
" of the court in the Dutch city, this international body added in a statement.
