The president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, has thanked the support of his voters and assured that he will not disappoint the confidence of those who will take him to the White House on January 20.

"I am honored and humbled by the trust you have placed in me and in the vice president-elect, Kamala Harris," said the veteran Democratic politician through a statement from his campaign team, in similar terms to a message on the social network Twitter

“In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans have voted, proving once again that democracy is pounding at the heart of America.

Once the [electoral] campaign is over, it is time to put the anger and harsh rhetoric behind us and come together as a nation.

It's time for America to unite, for America to heal.

We are the United States of America, and there is nothing that we will not be able to do if we do it together ”, added the official statement.

The text of the Biden-Harris tandem reiterates some of the ideas that the president-elect shelled in a speech delivered on Friday night, when he stressed "we are opponents, not enemies," in reference to Donald Trump and his evil losing.

In the message posted on his Twitter account, Biden elaborated on another idea that he has been repeating since Wednesday, when the scrutiny was still contrary to him in some States that today have given him victory: “I will be the president of all Americans, regardless of whether they have voted for me or not ”.

His victory, with 74 million votes - the highest support ever received by a president in the history of the United States - compared to the 70 million received by Donald Trump, demonstrates the extreme polarization of the country after four years of the Republican in the White House.

In a video posted on his Twitter account, the new

number two

of the White House showed the congratulatory call to Biden, after the projection of his victory by the main North American media.

“We did it, we did it, Joe!

You will be the next president of the United States! "Proclaims a smiling Harris dressed in sportswear over the phone.

We did it, @JoeBiden.

The top leaders of the Democratic Party, led by Hillary Clinton, have already congratulated Biden and Harris on their victory.

Against all odds, Clinton lost the 2016 election to Donald Trump despite receiving more votes than her opponent.
