The director of the municipal police of Cancun, Mexico, Eduardo Santamaría, was removed from his duties after clashes between police officers and feminist protesters, Cancun Mayor Mara Lezama told CNN.
CNN has not been able to establish contact with Santamaría.
The mayor added that the protesters vandalized the facilities and tried to enter the City Hall, but that they were not armed.
The official also told Mario González that the events are being investigated and that two journalists were shot.
