Constanze Elger has been President of the Lions Club Bad Tölz since July - and actually she would have her hands full.

But because of Corona, a lot looks different.

Bad Tölz -

The final preparations for the book flea market in the Franzmühle would have to be made, the last profits for the advent calendar had to be collected.

But by and large, Constanze Elger, the new president of the Lions Club Bad Tölz, is currently condemned to inaction.

"Corona put us in a kind of shock," says the 62-year-old Lenggrieser.

There has only been one club evening since Elger took over from Sascha Tengg in July.

The evening was nice.

“The people were happy to see each other again,” says the Lenggrieserin.

But the increasing number of infections and the stricter Corona requirements make any further activity of the club, founded in 1972, impossible.

The book flea market in November has long been canceled, and that in summer could not take place either.

"Unfortunately, we cannot accept any more books at the moment," because there is no longer any storage space, says the president, who has been a member of the Lions club for five years.

The club has also abandoned the idea of the advent calendar - also because it did not want to burden the local business world, which otherwise generated profits, unduly.

“I think business people have completely different worries due to Corona,” says the dentist, who has been retired at the beginning of the year.

Book markets and advent calendars are the main sources of income for the club, which in normal years supports numerous local organizations, but also people in need, with donations.

“Unfortunately, our financial resources are currently somewhat limited,” says the 62-year-old mother of two grown children.

Still, the club is looking for ways to bring at least some joy into the lives of one or the other.

Organizing performances by musicians in front of old people's homes - the Lenggrieserin could imagine that, for example.

Otherwise she can only encourage each individual to just do something nice for their fellow human beings.

“It has become rare to be a little nice to one another,” she says, referring to a society in which the I usually comes before the we.

One must now wait and see when activities in the club will be possible again.

"Everything is still suspended for November," says Elger.

But maybe you can organize online meetings.

Constanze Elger will remain in office until July 2021 - then the presidency changes according to schedule.
