Xinhua News Agency reported that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress made decisions on the qualifications of members of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, including:

1. A member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region who promotes or supports the "Hong Kong Independence" claim, refuses to recognize the state's ownership and exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong, seeks foreign or foreign forces to interfere in the affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, or has other acts that endanger national security. It meets the statutory requirements and conditions for upholding the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. Once affirmed in accordance with the law, the legislative council member will be immediately disqualified.

2. This decision applies to members of the sixth legislative council who were ruled invalid by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in accordance with the law during the nomination period for the election of the seventh legislative council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region originally scheduled to be held on September 6, 2020.

This decision shall apply to all those who participate in elections or serve as members of the Legislative Council in the above circumstances.

3. Anyone who loses his qualifications as a member of the Legislative Council in accordance with the above provisions shall be declared by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
