The SAR government announced today (11th) that, in accordance with the decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, four members of the Sixth Legislative Council, Yang Yueqiao, Guo Rongkeng, Guo Jiaqi, and Liang Jichang from the accounting community, will be immediately disqualified as members of the Legislative Council.
The decision of the National People's Congress stated that this time the motion was proposed at the request of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. Chief Executive Carrie Lam emphasized that it is especially responsible to the SAR, including the legislature. The government noticed that several members of the Legislative Council had previously been identified by the Returning Officer as belonging to " Not supporting or loyal", but continuing to sit in the Legislative Council is "illogical, self-contradictory, and inconsistent with political ethics." Therefore, the Chief Executive has the responsibility to deal with this issue. However, after analysis, it is found that it is not possible to exemplify it. The conditions can be handled by oneself, so it is submitted to the central processing.
Lam Cheng also revealed that the government began to consider relevant legal issues on August 11, and by the end of September, the pro-democracy legislators decided to stay in office, highlighting the relevant issues.

Lam Cheng said at the press conference that this decision has nothing to do with her visit to Beijing last week. The visit to Beijing is all about dealing with Hong Kong's economic problems and seeking support for integration into the country's development and the Greater Bay Area.
She also pointed out that the issue of membership qualifications takes time to deal with. "It is not a two-day issue of the three dynasties." She emphasized that it was not because of the recent Rab in the Legislative Council that it was brought to the Central Committee for processing.
Lam Cheng also denied that there was a contradiction between her statement and that in July. She pointed out that DQ members should not be "arbitrarily" at the time, and that DQ members are not arbitrary now. The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress handles it from the constitutional level.
She explained later that the statement on July 31 was that "at that time, it had not yet been decided whether individual members were still eligible to return to the Legislative Council." At that time, the NPC's 8.11 decision only dealt with the issue of the "vacuum period" of the Legislative Council instead of staying. The question is, "At that time, it was written that the Legislative Council continued to perform its duties, and there was no word for members." Therefore, today is the issue of the extension of membership.
