The relevant decision is announced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
The government immediately announced that in the Legislative Council elections scheduled for September this year, the current legislators Yang Yueqiao, Guo Rongkeng, Guo Jiaqi, and Liang Jichang, who were ruled to be invalid in the nomination, will immediately lose their membership of the Legislative Council and will be gazetted later.
According to the content of the decision, there are 5 situations in which the membership qualifications will be DQ.
It is worth noting that this decision will also apply to future Legislative Council elections and the term of office of the Legislative Council.
Moreover, the government can also declare the disqualification of incumbent members in accordance with this decision in the future, creating a precedent for direct DQ legislators.

According to the decision of the National People's Congress, the disqualification of members can be divided into five types:
1. For promoting or supporting the idea of "Hong Kong independence"
2. Refusal to recognize that the country owns and exercises sovereignty over Hong Kong
3. Seek foreign or foreign forces to interfere in the affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
4. Have other acts that endanger national security
5. Does not meet the legal requirements and conditions for upholding the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and loyal to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China
The decision mentioned that once the above-mentioned situation is determined in accordance with the law, the relevant person immediately loses the qualifications of the legislative council member.
It should be noted that the decision of the National People's Congress also applies to the sixth legislative election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region originally scheduled to be held on September 6, 2020 during the nomination period. Member of the Legislative Council.
In addition, this decision shall apply to all those who participate in elections or serve as members of the Legislative Council in the above circumstances.
In other words, in future sessions of the Legislative Council, the Government can also directly declare the disqualification of an incumbent member of the Legislative Council in accordance with the decision of the NPC.
