The long wait is over for “Krahwin” fans: Now the second part of the Krähen children's book by Viola Hilsenbeck has been published.

Reichertshausen

- With “Flieg, Krahwin, Flieg!”, Author Viola Hilsenbeck from Reichertshausen published an impressive children's book last year - about freedom, growing up and the search for happiness.

On the other hand, the recently published second part of the crow's story “Riot about Krahwin”, for which numerous children have longingly been waiting, is about the dangers of life.

Hilsenbeck had actually been working on a completely different book when a child of the crows suddenly joined the family in 2018 and thus had a significant influence on further writing.

Because: The primary school teacher has had an affinity for literature for a long time, and with it the desire to work on stories herself.

Hilsenbeck names the youth novel “Krabat” by Ottfried Preußler as a central book of her life - also because of the darker narrative nuances that she herself wants to peel out in other of her own novel projects.

Because of course the 49-year-old wants to continue writing - although only the third and probably last part of the Krahwin saga is pending.

Perfect middle part of a trilogy

So much can be revealed: There are many dangers lurking for Krahwin in part two and he is even injured - he had been on an important mission as the leader of a small flock of crows.

The sequel is determined by a winter color and thus forms the perfect middle part of a trilogy.

“Riot around Krahwin” was again congenially illustrated by the illustrator Ute Sinram, so that this time a perfectly designed reading and reading book was created.

The author worked on this winter book for about a year, which shines and is completely convincing thanks to its warm, melodic language.

In the best Lindgren tradition, she succeeds in creating wonderful pictures with empathetic sketches and thus precisely matching the tones of the seasons.

Next project: youth horror literature

According to Krahwin, Hilsenbeck would like to venture into books for older young people and in doing so to fathom their love for mysterious stories.

She has always liked to read it herself and found it fascinating, settled in the broad field of horror literature.

In her opinion, for example, sagas and legends of the Hallertau would be possible, narrated in a modern way and always with the aim of writing good literature for the next generation of readers.

Due to her work at a school, however, she is currently hardly able to read or write - all the more surprising in this regard is the high quality of her stories, which prove one thing: Hilsenbeck is not a hobby author, but extremely gifted with languages and quite talented for larger works.

Her books appear in self-publishing, also in order to be able to remain independent in the narrative structure: “I don't need anyone here to talk to me,” says the author.
