Twelve civilians and 11 policemen were injured this Thursday in the so-called great national march in Peru, according to the National Police.

The march, called through social networks, took place this Thursday in Lima and several cities in the country after the dismissal of Martín Vizcarra and the swearing-in of Manuel Merino.

Several institutions have spoken out about the protests that have occurred since Tuesday in Peru.

The Ombudsman's Office said through its social networks: “We demand that the National Police immediately cease the use of tear gas and pellets against citizens who exercise their right to demonstrate.

Excesses can constitute serious crimes ”.

For its part, the Public Ministry opened an ex officio investigation "against those who are responsible" for what happened to those who were injured in the march on Thursday.

The UN in a statement also expressed its concern and said that it "receives worrying reports of arbitrary detentions, excessive use of force and attacks on journalists during the demonstrations that have followed the removal of the country's president."

The marches transcend the figure of Martin Vizcarra, who on Monday after the approval of a vacancy motion was dismissed by the Congress of that country.

A common denominator of these protests is not in defense of the ex-president, but in defense of democracy and the institutions, since they consider that the procedure that was carried out in parliament, despite being contemplated in the Constitution, was not properly applied .
