The man entered Greece on March 28, 2018, according to this text, which does not provide more details on the conditions of his arrival in the country.

A police source told AFP that this person lived in a container in the Eleonas migrant camp in Athens.

Police discovered "

digital evidence that will be analyzed in criminological laboratories

," the statement said.

Following questioning, the suspected jihadist has admitted the charges and must be transferred to the Athens prosecutor's office.

Until 2019, Greece was the main gateway for asylum seekers to Europe, but this year the country has seen a significant drop in the number of migrant arrivals, the government recently welcomed.

This decrease is due to the restrictions to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic since March but also to the strengthening of "

security

" at the Greek-Turkish sea and land borders with the help of the European Border Surveillance Agency (Frontex) , a priority of the government of the right-wing Kyriakos Mitsotakis to counter “

the flow

” of migration.
