He has also spoken frequently on American diplomatic issues.

Buttigieg commented on Hong Kong issues on Twitter in 2020 and 2019, including reposting news about the "Minato National Security Law" on May 22, 2020 and calling this move a heavy blow to the core of one country, two systems.
He also posted a document on June 11, 2019, saying that the peaceful march of Hong Kong people is inspiring.
He said the United States should continue to work on Hong Kong’s openness, democratic values, and judicial independence.
