“The humanitarian and professional duty is a priority for us, which is what takes away from us the fear of infection with the virus, and in the event that it occurs, we accept the matter naturally because it is one of the expected repercussions of our work.” .

Nurse Murad is currently working with 184 medical personnel from various specialties to treat Corona patients and was one of the 11 cadres in the hospital who were infected with the virus despite taking all preventive measures, according to Murad, who confirmed in a statement to SANA that after recovery, she returned to work because her happiness in contributing to the recovery of a patient Happiness is incomparable.

The Zabadani Hospital, designated for Corona patients, has been receiving since last March the confirmed cases as a result of the PCR test, and from moderate and severe cases, according to the chief resident physician at the hospital, Dr.Mizhar Sultan, who was infected with the virus and recovered from it, indicating that the period of wearing protective clothing and means of protection during their presence in the isolation center reaches 5 to 5 7 hours However, the possibility of infection is very likely as a result of what is known medically as "carrying the virus" because of being directly with patients.

According to Dr. Sultan, the health personnel working in the medical isolation centers are not only responsible for providing treatment to patients, but rather protecting themselves and their families from transmission of infection while they are carrying out their professional and national duty as the white army concerned with dealing with any pandemic or epidemic.

In his speech to SANA, Dr. Sultan recalls the difficulty of working during the first peak of the spread of the virus, as the number of hours in which he wore the protective clothing reached 14 hours, moving between patients, who at that time reached 120 patients, and it is expected that the new peak of the virus spread is strong because most of the cases that reach The hospital is currently in a severe degree.

In the same context, and in the spirit of high responsibility, the health personnel working at Qatana National Hospital, which has been designated as a medical isolation center since the 19 of last June, continue to perform their duty to treat Corona patients in addition to providing psychological support to them, according to the director of the hospital, Dr. Bassam Al-Mawai, who confirmed that during the height of the virus spread last summer The number of patients receiving treatment reached 60 patients, which is the capacity of Qatana Hospital, and none of the health personnel was injured, indicating that there is currently no patient in the hospital and that the staff are ready at all times to perform their duty in providing care and treatment to patients.

The head of the nursing department at Qatana Hospital, Shahnaz Tahwan, indicated that the nursing staff had received training courses to deal with Corona patients, especially that Corona patients in isolation did not have any facilities, and most of them were elderly, so the nurses were like friends and children of the patients and took care of them psychologically and therapeutically.

The presence of children with her and the old age of her mother, who suffers from a chronic disease, did not prevent the diligent nurse Mona Hussein, head of the isolation department at Damascus Hospital, from performing her professional duty towards Corona patients, so she was one of the first cadres who wanted to work in the department to be part of the White Army entrusted with the task of addressing this epidemic.

The hospital resident doctor, Dr. Bilal Haruqa pointed out that the feeling of duty and the ability to provide medical care to Corona patients was the reason for choosing to be in the isolation department, although this prevented him from visiting his family for fear of transmitting the infection, indicating that despite all the high preventive measures and wearing protection suits for a period exceeding 8 hours, He had contracted the virus, but that did not deter him from returning to work after his recovery.

In words full of sadness, Haruqa recalls the moments of hearing the death of one of his colleagues or professors from the doctors working in isolation centers in hospitals or clinics as a result of their infection with Corona, explaining that they are the martyrs of duty as an example for us to further work to limit the spread of the virus and the occurrence of more injuries and deaths.

In turn, the director of Al-Mujtahid Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, indicated that the number of health personnel in the isolation department of the hospital was 48 people, among a specialist doctor, a resident and a nurse, indicating that the Coronavirus infections among the department's workers were high during the peak period of its spread last summer and no deaths were recorded.

The head of the Damascus Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Imad Saadeh, explained that with the increase in the spread of injuries in Syria, an increase in injuries was noticed among the medical and nursing staff, and a number of deaths, stressing the importance of strict prevention measures, especially since the humanitarian and professional duty requires the doctor to inspect all patients and receive them, which exposes them to a greater risk of injury.

The number of doctors who died as a result of being infected with the Corona virus reached 48 doctors, most of them in Damascus, according to the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Kamal Amer, indicating that the number is greater than that due to the number of deaths of doctors outside Syria, in addition to doctors who died with Corona symptoms without performing a PCR test.

The Doctors Syndicate affirmed that those doctors who sacrificed their lives in fulfillment of their professional duty receive their full compensation and union rights regardless of their years of service, as the Syndicate Law states that these rights are only given to those who have performed 30 years of service, as the doctor who deceased in such a case records in a register. Martyrs Syndicate.

Dr. Amer pointed out that there is a project in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to consider the death of any doctor with the Coronavirus as a result of a work injury.
