Through posters and films, the latter produced by Arnaud Desplechin, Road Safety intends to invite the driver to think about "

what really matters

", between the small and great pleasures of life (playing with your child, taking a bath in humming a song ...) and the risks sometimes taken on the road.

It's a call to life, a celebration of life not always present in Road Safety campaigns which, in the past, placed a lot of emphasis on risk, especially fatal.

There, on the contrary, the goal is to try to remind us why we should not take risks on the road

”comments the Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety, Marie Gautier-Melleray, to AFP.

This positive communication therefore aims to "

remind our fellow citizens that the rules and constraints that may be imposed are not there for the pleasure of annoying them but to preserve the life of everyone on the road

" she added.

It comes in the run-up to the end of the year holidays and the easing of confinement, which like that of spring was marked by a significant increase in excessive speeding (50 km / h above the maximum authorized speed). ): + 47.4% in November compared to the same month last year.

We noticed in the spring that risky behavior had persisted after confinement.

So we are vigilant about what will happen in the coming weeks, where we hope that everyone will return to a more respectful behavior of the rules, there to save our lives

”estimated Ms. Gautier-Melleray.

Due to the drop in road traffic, mortality fell by 33.9% in November (170 deaths), except among cyclists, motorized two-wheelers and 18-24 year olds, categories where it remains stable.
