In the video: The nephew was documented firing at the uncle - the State Attorney's Office decided not to file an indictment (Walla! NEWS system)

The case of a family dispute over land in the Negev that ended in a shooting was closed by the prosecution, even though the case was documented and the suspect was arrested.

Khaled Ziadna, a resident of the Bedouin diaspora near Rahat, is the principal of a comprehensive school in the city and a foreign lecturer in the Department of Education at Ben Gurion University in Be'er Sheva.

Ziadna gets into a dispute with his brother over an inheritance of land.

In late November, Khaled's nephew arrived at the area where he lives and fired one shot at him, while fleeing with the vehicle.

The incident was documented in a video taken by Khaled's son who was with him, and the educator filed a complaint at the Rahat police station, where they quickly acted and arrested Shaker and his father Adnan for questioning.

Police investigators located a rented apartment in Be'er Sheva, registered in Adnan's name, and found in it the gun from which Shaker allegedly fired at Khaled, as well as ammunition and drugs.

Shooting documentation

The Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva ruled that Shaker and his father were in danger - as the police claimed - and extended their detention, which lasted a total of 12 days.

"The investigation file raises a well-founded reasonable suspicion," the judges wrote.

"Apart from the complainant's testimony, there is additional evidence that significantly strengthens the complaint."

To Walla!

NEWS The documentation of the incident arrived, in which Shaker was seen traveling in a vehicle, stopping near Khaled, firing a shot into the air at him and fleeing the scene.

Despite the video and the solid evidence in the case, the Southern District Attorney's Office decided not to file an indictment, and to close the investigation file against Shaker and his father without any criminal proceedings.

This, while Khaled is defined by the Israeli police as a threat in Level 5 - the highest threat levels.

The complainant is defined as highly threatened.

In a conversation with Walla!

NEWS, Khaled expressed great anger at the Southern District Attorney's Office.

"I spoke to the police and they were shocked. This is a ready-made and closed case in which they should have filed an indictment. The prosecutor's office decided to drop this case. How can the influence in the Arab sector be eradicated like this?" He wondered.

"He has weapons and bullets. What will stop him from carrying out his plot next time?"

"I am a man of faith," Khaled added, testifying that he was "afraid but not frightened, even if it cost me my life."

He resented the message conveyed by the prosecution in its decision.

"The writing on the wall - if there is a record of a man shooting, a gun is found in his possession, he is detained for 12 days and eventually released home without indictment - it means anyone can take the law into their own hands and do what he wants, it is not possible," he said. .

The Southern District Attorney's Office (Criminal) stated that "after an in-depth and thorough examination of the evidence collected in the case by the Israel Police, the State Attorney's Office concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute any of the suspects in weapons offenses and therefore decided to close the case. "Contrary to what was alleged and as can be seen from the video, the shooting was carried out in the air and not against anyone. With regard to the offense of threats, the issue will be referred for further investigation by the police."
