US President-elect Joe Biden is expected to receive the first dose of the vaccine for Corona next week, the US media reported tonight (Wednesday to Thursday). Biden said he chooses to be publicly vaccinated to prove to Americans the safety of the vaccine.

In an interview with CNN earlier this month, Biden noted that he would be "happy" to be vaccinated against the virus.

Elected Vice President Kamla Harris also issued a similar statement.

The director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Pauchi, told ABC he felt Biden and Harris should be vaccinated "as soon as possible."

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen are due to be vaccinated at the White House tomorrow.

His office said the two would receive the shot "publicly" for promoting the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine and for "building trust among the American people."

They will be vaccinated by the administration's chief physician, Dr. Jerome Adams.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, who fell ill in Corona and is recovering, is not expected to be vaccinated at this stage until the White House medical staff recommends that he do so, a White House source told CNN.

According to the same source, officials in the Trump administration have discussed how and when the president may receive the vaccine, but have not yet made a final decision on the matter.

As is well known, corona recoverers were advised not to get vaccinated at this stage, as they had developed antibodies to the virus.

However, it should be noted that at present it is not clear how long the immunity to the disease lasts.

The US vaccination campaign began last Monday.

The first to receive the vaccine was Sandra Lindsay, a nurse in the intensive care unit of the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York State.
