A 33-year-old man was killed on April 8 after a strong arrest. Today, several witnesses come to contradict the version of the police officers.

Three agents of the municipal police of Béziers (Hérault) were placed in custody this Thursday, December 17 in the premises of the regional service of judicial police of Montpellier (SRPJ), learned our colleagues of the Parisian.

The three police officers are heard within the framework of a judicial investigation opened last April 18 for "

willful violence having resulted in death without intention of giving it by a person holding public authority

" and for "

non-assistance to person in danger

“, Confirmed the parquet of Béziers in

Parisien

.

Also according to the regional daily, it would seem that the hearing of several witnesses came to contradict the version of the facts given by the agents last April.

For justice it is therefore a question of determining with precision the conditions of the arrest and those of the transport of the victim in the car of the municipal police.

On April 8, around 10 p.m., a mobile patrol made up of three agents checked Mohamed Gabsi, 33, who was moving on foot.

Already sentenced eight times since 2005 for acts of violence and theft, the individual had recently submitted to other controls, without offering any particular resistance.

But that evening, the latter was provided with a non-compliant travel certificate, pushing him, it seems, to try to dodge control.

According to the municipal police officers, the victim would have indeed

"refused the control and adopted against them a very aggressive behavior, justifying to proceed to his arrest",

specifies

Le Parisien.

Handcuffed then forcibly lying on his stomach in the police vehicle, Mohamed Gabsi was no longer breathing on arrival at the police station, and could not be resuscitated.

However, the hearing of certain witnesses strongly weakens this version of the facts.

The investigators recovered some amateur videos shot during the arrest and heard from many residents.

Statements that have been verified and cross-referenced according to where they were, adds

Le Parisien.

But it is the testimony of two brothers that seems the most damning for the three municipal officials.

According to

Le Parisien

, the latter would have attended, from their apartment located on the ground floor, the boarding of Mohamed Gabsi in the police vehicle.

One of the two brothers explains having seen in the police vehicle an officer kneeling on the victim's head and telling him: "

I'm going to put you to sleep

".

The same official would have launched to one of his colleagues: "

Leave it to me

", reports the daily.

This official is described by the witness as wearing glasses and a waistcoat with an inscription on the back in three letters.
