The Government Authority for Urban Renewal this week released a document designed to help tenants select an entrepreneur in an evacuation-construction project, check its suitability and commitments.
The document includes a number of key issues: information provided by the tenants to the developer about the complex and the population, the developer's experience, economic soundness, obligations to the apartment owners and the compensation to the tenants.

The document draws tenants' attention to significant issues that are important to demand from developers, such as guarantees, rent financing for the construction period, participation in future maintenance costs, meeting schedules, disclosure obligation in case of conflict of interest and uniformity in the compensation key for all tenants.
After receiving offers from a number of developers, it is recommended that the tenants' representatives interview the developers who submitted the best offers.
The apartment owners themselves are the ones who will choose the developer.
The document is intended for initial guidance, and the Urban Renewal Authority recommends tenants choose an attorney to represent them.
