Assistant Director of Damascus Health, Dr. Ahmed Habas stressed the importance of adhering to the precautionary measures to address the Corona virus and applying health instructions due to their great impact on limiting the spread of the virus.
Despite knowledge of the symptoms of infection with the virus and the existence of a culture within society about its nature and methods of spread, Dr. Habas indicated in a statement to SANA's delegate that there is a laxity in applying procedures to a large number of people due to the long period of time and boredom with the use of masks and sterilization.
Dr. Habas pointed out that a large number of people have thoughts of laxity in applying preventive measures and adhering to them, justifying that they have been infected during the past months and have acquired immunity against the virus, noting that despite the World Health Organization’s announcement that infection with the virus generates immunity even if it is an accidental infection, it has not been proven. The strength of its effect or its duration, which is not a sufficient reason to prevent reinfection with the virus.
Dr. Habas indicated that most of the people who neglect the preventive measures on the basis that they had contracted the virus during the last period did not take a PCR test, and therefore the infection was not proven, pointing out that it could be just symptoms similar to the symptoms of infection with the virus and no immunity has arisen in the body. .
Despite the strong immunity of young people, Dr. Habas stressed the importance of their commitment to preventive measures, as they mix with their family members, who are often elderly and suffer from chronic diseases.
Dr. Habas noted the great preparations of the health cadres compared to the past period, as most doctors are fully aware of how to deal with cases reviewed by hospitals and clinics and suspected of being infected with the virus, in addition to the readiness and activation of hospitals to receive all incoming cases and provide the necessary services and deal with all suspected cases such as cases of corona infection.
Dr. Habas stressed that addressing the Coronavirus and preventing its spread is not limited to government decisions to close or the great efforts made by health personnel, and the main way to cut the chain of infection is awareness of individuals and their responsibility to protect themselves, their families and the environment around them.
Dr. Habas stressed the importance of wearing a muzzle, not shaking hands, applying spatial distancing as much as possible, washing hands and sterilizing them on an ongoing basis, especially as we are now experiencing a period of celebrations marking the New Year, expressing his hope that the celebration and joy tomorrow will not be a reason to spread infection in the event of slackness in applying individual prevention measures.
