Health officials in Elbert County, Colorado, are now monitoring at least two cases of the covid-19 variant, a health official said this morning.
The county has one confirmed case and now has a second case that could be it, Dwayne Smith, Elbert County public health director, told CNN.
Both individuals are male and worked at the Good Samaritan Society's assisted living facility in Simla, approximately 45 miles northeast of Colorado Springs.

None of the cases are Elbert County residents and are currently isolated in an out-of-county location, Smith said.
"There is no indication at this time" that this event has gone beyond the facilities and within the community at large.
The state health department has contacted the CDC in both cases.
Smith says there is no timeline for when the suspected case can be confirmed.

CNN has reached out to the Good Samaritan Society for comment.
Smith was unable to comment on the men's travel history.
The “two people were working at the facility in non-clinical roles.
They were working at the facility due to a shortage of staff due to a previous covid-19 outbreak at the facility, so they weren't regular staff, ”according to Smith.
Smith went on to say that "the state health department has deployed a rapid response team to the assisted living facility in Simla to assess residents and staff."
"We were notified of the two cases by the state Department of Health on Tuesday afternoon."
The Good Samaritan Society assisted living facility in Simla has already experienced a covid-19 outbreak in the past two and a half weeks according to Smith, where at least two people have died from the coronavirus.
The facility houses approximately 25 residents.
A 93-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman are the two confirmed deaths.
Smith says a third death is also being investigated.
