The French population remains mostly resistant to vaccination

2021-01-03T19:23:16.208Z

SURVEY - A survey conducted by Odoxa reveals disparities in reactions among French people to the Covid-19 vaccine.

Vaccination against the coronavirus gives rise to very contradictory reactions among the French.

This is what reveals the Odoxa poll which, for

Le Figaro

and Franceinfo, interviewed, on December 22 and 23, 1004 people.

Thus, and even if the discovery of vaccines somewhat raises the morale of a country where concern has declined by 6 points in two months, the population still remains mostly resistant to vaccination with a refusal rate of 58%.

That is an increase of 8 points compared to the previous month, when the first vaccines were discovered.

"Incredibly, in France, the more scientists supposed to praise vaccination talk about vaccines, the less the French want to be vaccinated!"

, notes Gaël Sliman, the president of Odoxa, during his analysis of the investigation.

In detail, this refusal front conceals notable disparities, according to various criteria.

If we keep that of age, it is the over 65s who naturally, and for 58% of them, are ready to be bitten against 32% among 35-49 year olds.

More surprisingly, women are more reluctant to vaccine.

69% of them oppose it against 54% of men.

As for the social environment, this reveals a clear divide between the workers who in a large majority (73%) refuse the vaccine while 62% of the executives say they are ready to submit to it.

Politically, the analysis is interesting: the strongest reluctance is rooted in the electorate of Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

The refusal reached 68% and 60% respectively.

Emmanuel Macron's voters, for their part, accept this solution up to 56%.

The supporters of the refusal of the vaccine assume their choice.

60% of them say that

“not getting vaccinated is a reasonable decision when faced with a new disease and a new vaccine”

.

This poll also questioned the French on the confidence they place in the government "to rapidly deploy vaccination".

The results are rather positive but already outdated because they were garnered before the launch of vaccination in France and the controversy it sparked because of a timid start.

Thus, the survey reveals that 53% of those questioned trust the government for a quick campaign.

No doubt the rate, collected today, would be lower ...

With the arrival of this vaccine - considered a decisive step by 53% of French people - the fight against the virus will be long-term, many people believe.

Only 17% think that the Covid will be overcome in the next six to nine months.

36% believe it will take a year or two.

But 46% do not comment today on the outcome of the fight.
