Outgoing United States President Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden are holding rallies in Georgia tonight (Tuesday), on the eve of the crucial Senate election that will shape the path of the next administration.

At an event in Atlanta, Biden once again attacked Trump for advancing the vaccination campaign to Corona.

Polls herald close battles, after which it will be known which party will rule the Senate in the coming years.

"By choosing Warnock and Usoff, you will bring to the states the resources needed to spread the vaccines," Biden said of Democratic candidates Rafael Warnock and John Usoff.

"What is happening now is a shame. I have said this before, vaccinating America will be one of the great operational challenges this nation has faced, but we have known this in the last month. The current administration has started in a horrible and terrible way.

Later, Biden referred to Trump's attempt to reverse the election results in the United States and Georgia in particular.

"I do not understand why he still wants the job, he does not want to do the job. Politicians cannot declare, take or seize power. Power is given only by the American people."

The president-elect testified to the Democratic candidates that "they are talented, they are worthy, they are worthy, they are honest, they are honest and they mean what they say. This is a new year, and tomorrow could be a new day for Atlanta, Georgia and America."

Trump will appear at a rally in support of incumbent Republican senators Kelly Loffler and David Pardio - a day after a dramatic recording was released documenting pressure on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Reppensperger to change the results of the country's presidential election, in which his Democratic opponent won.

Rafensperger said today that his office is unlikely to open an investigation following the phone call with Trump, in which he told him to "find 11,870" votes - one more than Biden's gap in Georgia.

However, he said the Atlanta District Attorney may do so.

Democratic candidate Warnock, a 51-year-old pastor from a church in Atlanta where former civil rights leader Martin Luther King preached, will face 50-year-old Loffler, who has been in office since December 2019 after the former senator resigned for health reasons.

Georgia has been a Republican stronghold for decades, but Biden, who entered the White House on Jan. 20, defeated Trump and became the first Democratic candidate to do so since 1992. Republicans have 50 seats in the Senate, and a victory in either race will leave them with the majority they can. They have to block the agenda of the elected democratic president.

If the Democrats win the two close races, they'll have 50 seats in the Senate, like the Republicans.

In such a scenario, incoming Vice President Kamla Harris would be breaking the tie.
