The special commission on the bill “consolidating respect for the principles of the Republic”, a former project against Islamist separatism, resumed its work on Monday by giving the floor to representatives of religions.
But the debate took place in the absence of the first concerned, the members of the French Council of Muslim Worship (CFCM) whose hearing was canceled due to health problems of its president, Mohammed Moussaoui, from the ranks of the Union of Mosques of France (near Morocco).
The commission must also hear two vice-presidents of the Council, Chems-Eddine Hafiz, rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris (near Algeria) and Ibrahim Alci, head of the Coordination Committee of Turkish Muslims in France.
Their hearing should take place on Wednesday and the deputies will have many questions on the bill and on the agreement within the CFCM itself.
At the end of December, Mr. Moussaoui and Hafiz crossed swords on the question of a future National Council of Imams
