WASHINGTON - US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has discussed with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark

Washington-SANA

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has discussed with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley blocking outgoing President Donald Trump from accessing the nuclear launch code.

In a letter to fellow members reported by the Washington Post, Pelosi said: “This morning I spoke to Milly to discuss the preventive measures available to avoid a mentally unbalanced president launching hostile military attacks or using launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike“ pledging that Congress will act if Trump does not step down. ” Voluntarily and as soon as possible, without specifying the nature of this move.

Pelosi made it clear that the unbalanced situation of this president could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything in our power to protect the American people from their attack on our country.

She reiterated her readiness to start impeachment procedures if Trump does not voluntarily step down or if Vice President Mike Pence does not initiate a process stipulated in the 25th amendment of the Constitution that allows him and the government to remove the president.

It is noteworthy that this is the first time that the issue of nuclear launch codes has raised a crisis in the United States in nearly five decades, as lawmakers in Congress expressed their concern over the concentration of powers to use nuclear weapons in the hands of Trump alone.
