The major airlines in the world are making adjustments ahead of their return to activity alongside vaccinations.

Three of them, which are considered to be among the best airlines in the world, have already announced that they will join the International Airlines Organization (IATA) with the aim of activating a type of electronic passport starting next month.

Emirates, which is scheduled to operate direct flights from Dubai to Israel starting next month, is one of the three companies.

Singapore Airlines (which does not operate flights to Israel) and British Airways (active on the London-Tel Aviv route) will also be part of the pilot of the International Airlines Organization.

So how will it work?

Using an app or a dedicated website that has already been developed, and is currently called IATA Pass, it will be possible to enter the passenger's details into the app, in which his medical details regarding the corona virus will be specified.

Vaccinated will be labeled as vaccinated, recovering as recovering - but this is not relevant in very many countries, and those who have been tested and received a negative result will be able to present this through the same development.

The goal is that eventually, more airlines will join the program, thus making it possible to establish a kind of easy and simple international connection that will make it easier to obtain information about the passenger's medical condition regarding Corona.

Kobi Sussman, IATA's CEO in Israel, elaborated on how the program is expected to operate: "Passengers should be allowed complete control over their personal information, using the latest technologies, standards and privacy protection laws.

The solution promoted by IATA will be stored in this way on the passenger's cell phone, and only he will decide what information he is passing on to some entity, such as the airline or a state authority.

The information will not be stored in any major database. "

"Based on standards developed by the United Nations Aviation Organization, which help to match the biometric passport data and the picture of the passenger holding the phone, it will be possible to verify that the information available on the phone regarding the test or vaccine is indeed associated with the passenger holding the phone," he added. Sussman.

"The IATA Pass solution will adopt guidelines from the World Health Organization regarding the veracity and accuracy of information about tests or vaccines, as required by states, a solution that will allow various non-contact airport procedures to be performed to maintain public health," Sussman said.

A survey conducted by IATA found that 70% of passengers are afraid of submitting the phone or passport or boarding pass to the various representatives in the process. The proposed solution will allow a non-contact process. IATA intends to present this solution in the first quarter of the year for both iPhone and Android. The world is simultaneously spreading the vaccines around the world. "
